Why Buy Huntington House

An American-made furniture company with a modern take on classic home fashion.

A family history

Clayton Marcus Teague and his wife, Hessie

At Huntington House we recently celebrated our 35 year anniversary, but our roots in North Carolina upholstery manufacturing go even further back: for three generations. Company co-founder, Donny Teague garnered his industry experience in his family’s upholstery business, Clayton Marcus Company, named for his father, Clayton Marcus Teague. That company flourished throughout the 1970s and 1980s before being sold. This was a prime opportunity for Donny to try his hand at starting his own business, and he then partnered with fellow industry veterans Danny Meadlock and Steve Piersall to create Huntington House.

Today Huntington House is in its second generation of leadership with Josh Piersall as CEO, Corey Teague as president and Monty Meadlock as vice president of manufacturing. All three have been involved in the business from an early age — from sweeping floors, loading trucks and pushing frames, to data entry, cost accounting and inventory management.

Handcrafted in the
foothills of North Carolina

Quality craftsmanship has always been at the forefront at Huntington House, and therefore our leaders have strategically chosen to manufacture 100% of our products in the foothills of NC, where they can find the most skilled and experienced craftsmen in the industry.

The company that started with six sofas and 30 fabrics has grown to over 300 sofa and chair styles, over 25 sectional collections and 1,000+ fabrics and leathers, with retail partners all over the world. To meet the needs of our expanding business and prepare for future growth, in 2015 we added an additional 150,000 square foot manufacturing facility 2.5 miles away from our headquarters, bringing more jobs to the Hickory area. Coming full circle, this newly renovated space just happens to be the original Clayton Marcus factory where it all began.

“For three generations our family has had the great fortune to be a part of the furniture industry producing the highest quality custom upholstery in the foothills of the North Carolina Mountains. The time honored construction techniques that we use today are essentially unchanged from those used by my grandfather over 60 years ago. While some technologies and materials have changed through the years, the standards for quality and craftsmanship have not. As we continue to grow we proudly honor our heritage by training the next generation of craftspeople to carry on the skills and culture that have been the foundation of our success. Fashion trends constantly change, but our commitment to quality, comfort and value never does. When you invest in furniture from Huntington House you can rest assured that you are buying the best quality available produced by the most skilled craftspeople in the world.”
– Corey Teague, president

Livable fashion

Our leadership team travels extensively each year to conduct
market research on home fashion trends, ensuring that our
furniture designs possess an aesthetic that fits the current
trends in today’s homes. We believe in keeping our silhouettes
and fabric selections fresh and fashion-forward, but also classic
enough to remain in style for many years to come.

To complement our broad selection of sofas, chairs, sectionals and recliners, Huntington House offers a tastefully diverse collection of fabrics and leathers.

Pieces can be further customized with a broad selection of
wood finishes, trims and decorative upholstery treatments to
create a design unlike any other.

comfort for every frame based on its style, scale and depth.
But don’t worry if you want it a little softer or firmer, just ask!

Quality

Call us old-fashioned, but in a world where everything seems
to be disposable, at Huntington House we hold onto the belief
in building products that last. This begins with choosing the
right materials and employing the finest techniques to assemble
them. The skilled craftsmen and women at Huntington House
employ time-tested manufacturing techniques that have been
passed down for generations to achieve the highest level of
long-lasting quality and style. Each unique piece is created
by hand, one at a time, taking no short cuts and being
deliberate on the details.
